These two collections appear to be made up of individuals most closely aligned with Elymus elymoides subsp. californicus. However, when viewing the characters of the spikes/spiklets there appears to be some introgression with the subsp. elymoides. Some spikelets appear closer to those typical of subsp. hordeoides.
